Airtable charges you exactly when the business grows: more rows, more users, higher price. NocoDB puts a smart-sheet interface (views, forms, permissions) on top of a real database that is yours, with no limits.
Who this is NOT for
If your team already pays for Airtable and the plan is plenty, migrating is not urgent: move when price or row limits start to hurt. And do not expect Airtable's mature automations; that gets solved by wiring in n8n.
We use it as the visible layer over operating databases: inventory, tracking, forms. The team edits 'the table' without knowing there is a serious database underneath. Curation note: we caught the license change by reading the repo's LICENSE, not a headline; that is why this card transcribes it.
Your first step
Run docker run -d -p 8080:8080 nocodb/nocodb and create your first base by importing the spreadsheet your team uses most.
The NocoDB implementation guide
The project belongs to NocoDB Inc. and it is free: the link beside asks for nothing. The guide to set it up without getting lost is ours: step by step, common mistakes and a checklist. Leave your email and we will send it.
