You answer the same question twenty times a day by chat, and in groups nobody knows whose turn it is to reply. Telegram's Bot API is the official interface that lets a program receive and answer messages, buttons and files on Telegram for you.
Who this is NOT for
If your customers message you on WhatsApp and not Telegram, skip this: you will not move them to another app just to talk to a bot. It is also not for you if you have nobody who codes, since the page itself says it is an interface for developers. There is no visual builder or template you can set up yourself.
This is not a product. It is Telegram's official manual for talking to it. What struck us most is the pace: two versions in six weeks (10.2 on July 14 and 10.3 on August 24, 2026), and 10.3 replaced parameters that 10.2 had just added (receiver_user_id and callback_query_id became ephemeral_message_parameters). Code written for July's ephemeral messages has to be updated for August. The classic mistake is commissioning the bot, calling it done and never looking at it again. If someone builds it for you, they should follow @BotNews and you should also pay them for maintenance. The interesting part for a business that runs groups is exactly those ephemeral messages: in a group, the bot can reply to one person without flooding everyone's chat. We could not verify a license or any popularity count, because this page does not show them.
Your first step
Open core.telegram.org/bots/api and click the 'Introduction to Bots' link in the first paragraph. It explains how to create and set up a bot. Read it with whoever would build it and decide whether your case fits.
The Telegram Bot API implementation guide
The project belongs to core.telegram.org and it is free: the link beside asks for nothing. The guide to set it up without getting lost is ours: step by step, common mistakes and a checklist. Leave your email and we will send it.
