Learn the Craft Technical

Teach the AI how you work, just once

Every time you ask the AI for a report or a branded document, you have to explain your rules from scratch, and the result comes out different every time. A skill is a folder of instructions (sometimes with scripts) that Claude loads on its own when it needs it, so the task comes out the same way every time. This repo is Anthropic's collection of examples, plus the specification and a template for building your own.

Who this is NOT for

If you pay for Claude.ai and only want it to build Word, PDF, PowerPoint or Excel files, you do not need this repo: the README says those skills already come with your plan. If you do not use Claude, there is nothing here for you, because everything is built for Claude. It also does not fit if you want something production-ready: the README itself says these are examples for demonstration and learning, that Claude may behave differently, and that you must test them before trusting them with anything critical. And if you planned to repackage the document skills to resell them, the README says those are source-available, not open source. We could not download the license file to confirm the details.

Curator's note · NeuralEdge

Almost everyone makes the same mistake: they come in, install both full plugin sets and wait for something to happen. The real value is in the `template` folder and the specification. A skill only becomes yours when it holds YOUR process, for example how you quote, your brand's tone or the format of your end-of-day cash report. The difference from saving loose prompts is that a skill can include scripts and files, and Claude loads it only when it needs it. Heads up: the repo is very active (last change on October 3, 2026), but it carries more than 1,400 open issues and PRs. Use it for inspiration, not as a supported product.

Your first step

Open the repo's template folder on GitHub, copy the SKILL.md structure and fill in name and description with a task you keep explaining to the AI over and over, for example "a quote in my business's format".
